The Georgia Tech Club of Jacksonville, FL serves as a forum for alumni, parents, family and friends of Georgia Tech to get together and socialize, volunteer, and help the institute recruit and interview some of the best and brightest prospective students.
Our annual events range from our spring scholarship banquet, to our football and basketball watching parties, to community service events around town. We are always interested in seeing new faces at our events and encourage alumni new to the area to come out, as well as familiar faces in the area.
A good time was had earlier this week at the freshman / student send-off. Almost 70 alumni, parents, and students attended the dinner at Wade’s condo’s clubhouse. Scholarship plaques were officially awarded and all the students got to hear stories about tech traditions, weird trivia, and some advice on what to do and what not to do when back at Tech. Two $1500 scholarships were also awarded to a freshman and upperclassman in attendance. Some photos:
The Jacksonville club’s stop on our new president’s tour around the southeast was a great success. We had over 60 guests attend the event and everyone was well-fed and got to hear about Georgia Tech’s new initiatives and projects. There was even a few minutes for some questions afterwards. A prominent member of our Georgia Tech community passed away recently and the Time-Union covered a story on his life. See the attached images to read about Mr. Verlander.
